Did you know 9RK(Rising Knee) allows Yoshimitsu to deck under high attacks?
When combined with LKRK(Ushiwaka), you can consistently duck under your opponent’s jab (LP).
In this post, I’ll explain how to use this powerful technique and which characters you can exploit it against!
The Logic of Ushiwaka&Rising Knee Trick
First, you need to bait your opponent into using a Jab(LP).
The perfect setup for this is Ushiwaka~Dragonfly Stance ([LKRK8]).
This move grants Yoshimitsu +5 frames on block, meaning your opponent will struggle to interrupt with Dragonfly 6WP(Red Spider Lily 16F, helicopter like attack).
To counter this, opponents often try to use their fastest move – usually a 10F jab, as it’s the quickest option for most characters.
Once you’re certain your opponent is throwing a jab, stop transitioning into Dragonfly Stance.
In this situation, Yohimitsu grants -6 frames.
Your opponent will likely throw a jab, thinking you’re about to continue with an attack from Dragonfly Stance.
Here’s where you execute 9RK(Rising Knee) right after they guard Ushiwaka.
Due to Yoshimitsu’s low posture at the start of Rising Knee, you’ll duck under their jab and successfully launch your opponent!
Which characters you can outsmart withthe Ushiwaka~Rising Knee combination!
This Ushiwaka~Rising Knee combination is effective only against specific characters.
Knowing who you can exploit with this trick is key to win.
Here’s a list of who you can outsmart with this technique – and those you can’t!
Rising Knee ducks under 15 characters’ jabs out of 35.
With this powerful combination, you’ll always have an edge over these specific characters.
Strategies for when your opponent stops throwing jabs
Once you’ve launched your opponent, they’ll likely adjust their strategy.
Here are the main responses you might see and how to handle each one.
1.Opponent continues throwing jabs
Lower ranked players often act without much strategy, so they may still throw jabs.
In this case, you can continue using the Ushiwaka~Rising Knee combination.
2.Opponent switches a mid attack.
Mid attacks can’t be ducked by Rising Knee, making this a solid choice for your opponent.
To counter this, use Ushiwaka~Dragonfly 6WP, which effectively handles mid attacks.
3. Opponent becomes hesitant
If your opponent hesitates or becomes “paralyzed,” this is your best-case scenario.
You now have the advantage to use Dragonfly~Spirited Away (WK) or Dragonfly Twister (RK), both of which give you an edge in the battle.
