Tekken 8 basic combo theory

In Tekken 8, combos can be divided by three section, which is “launching, “juggling/tornado”, and “finishing”.

If you find Tekken combos challenging, breaking them down into these three parts can make them easier to learn and practice each section separately!

Yoshimitsu launchers you need to know

  • Basic uppercut (3RP)
  • Knee Cap: Counter hit ( While crouching 3RK)
  • Flash(LP+RK)
  • Flash in Mutou no Kiwami or Heat state(LP+RK)
  • Spinning Cleave(During Mutou no Kiwami while crouching 3LK)

While Yoshimitsu has more launchers, these five are the most useful in various situations.

Yoshimitsu basic juggling

Yoshimitsu juggling is quite simple.

2RPRP4-3LPRPLP(Tornado)

Adding the 4 input can be tricky at first, but it’s important for transitioning into Mutou no Kiwami (no-sword stance).

Yoshimitsu combo finishers

Yoshimitsu has only two finishers.

  • Flash(LP+RK)-66-2RPRP4
  • LKRPWP

Yoshimitsu practical combos

The first combo to learn is simple but powerful:

3RP-(66-LP+RK)-2RPRP4-3LPRPLP(T) -66-LP+RK-66-2RPRP4
(the first flash can be skipped)
T is Tornado

Once you’ve mastered this combo, you’ll be ready to perform almost any Yoshimitsu combo!

For those using a defensive strategy, as explained earlier, you can use this Knee Cap combo repeatedly:

While crouching 3RK (counter hit) -While Rising RK-2RPRP4- 3LPRPLP(T) -66-LP+RK-66-2RPRP4

Flash has two different combos based on Yoshimitsu’s stance:

With sword,

LP+RK – 4RPRP-(Heat Dash)

No sword stance (pure launcher)

LP+RK – sidestep LP -2RPRP4- 3LPRPLP(T) -66-LP+RK-66-2RPRP4

Finally, you should know Yoshimitsu’s strongest low sweep combo:

Spinning Cleave(During Mutou no Kiwami while crouching 3LK)-LP+RK-LKLP6WP

These five combos form the foundation of Yoshimitsu.
Mastering them will give you a solid base for his more advanced techniques!

Building your knowledge to become a better Yoshimitsu player!
