- 【LKRK】(Tobiushiwaka)
- LKLP(Emma’s Flame)
- 1LKLK(Manji spin low kick)
- 1RK(Nozuchi Fumi)
Basic Yoshimitsu strategy
Yoshimitsu offensive phase is quite simple.
Throw [LKRK] or LKLP for middle attacks. Those two transition Yoshimitsu into dragonfly stance, which is one of the strongest stance in Tekken8.
You think your opponent standing guard, use light low attacks such as 1RK.
3RP and Crouching 3RK: Aiming for counter hits
Yoshimitsu’s defensive phase is complicated but crucial for winning matches.
First, use 3RP(Basic uppercut) as a keepout move.
Most Tekken characters need to close the distance to initiate strong 50/50 situations (mid or low inflicting significant damage).
To do this, they have to move forward, which means they cannot guard while advancing.
Aiming at opponent’s forward movement with 3RP to launch them is the first step to victory!
Crouching 3RK(Knee cap) is also an excellent keepout move, especially against characters with strong high attacks, such as electric wind god fist.
Its usage is similar to 3RP.
Use Crouching 3RK when you see your opponent stepping forward.
You can launch your opponent on a counter hit.
Tricky close distance defense
While you can keep out your opponent with the two moves above, this doesn’t mean you can maintain distance all the time.
To handle close combat scenarios, using 9RK(Rising knee) and LP+RK(flash) become crucial.
In Tekken 8 most of characters have strong attacks which grant + frames and powerful stances.
Your opponent will keep attacking relentlessly when they grant +frames.
This is where LP+RK(flash) becomes highly effective.
Flash is 6 frame.
Even though they grant +frames and continues attacking, flash can interrupt them due to its speed.
9RK is another tricky move for close combat.
Although it’s considered a normal hopkick in terms of frame data (15F), Yoshimitsu ducks under high attacks due to the low posture at the start of the move.
This makes 9RK capable of dealing with high and low attacks same time!
Let these basic moves sink in and become part of your muscle memory.
Simply understanding the basic moves isn’t enough.
Just like in sports, you need both knowledge and hands-on practice to truly master these moves.
